On Friday the 7th December at about 1230, RNAS Yeovilton's car club was involved in one of the biggest domestic fires ever seen at the Station.

Two MFV fire vehicles and two vehicles from Yeovil Fire Brigade responded to the incident and a combined attack by both fire crews ensured that the fire was quickly brought under control.

The fire occurred when the blue Astra shown was having some welding done on the vehicle ramp. The underseal in the cars sill caught fire and quickly engulfed the whole car.

If it had not been for the timely response of the fire crews the whole building could have become involved.

As it was the damage was kept to a minimal with smoke damage being the major factor.

There was only one minor injury for the whole event.
